When the cure is worse than the disease
Jan 16th, 2007 by Michael Max

One of the things that was terribly shocking to me when I returned to the US from Asia, were all the advertisements for pharmaceuticals.
They were everywhere!
Buses, TV, magazines, radio, billboards.
It was a constant bombardment of better living through chemistry. Well, maybe better living, I generally find the side-effects to be either entertaining, or terrifying.
I was surfing the web seeing what the competition, western medicine, has to offer men who usually get an awful night’s sleep because they are making several unsatisfying trips to the bathroom every night.

From the western perspective, this usually gets blamed on the prostate, as it has this annoying tendency to enlarge after the age of 30, and often by the time a man is in his 40’s or 50’s he is experiencing the effect of this enlargement.
Which tends to press on the various urinary apparatus in the area.
It’s not something that we really like to talk about.
Of course, there are pharmaceuticals targeted toward this issue.
Check out the side-effects of one these drugs:
Possible side effects are impotence, a decrease in libido, enlarged breasts, a decrease in the amount of semen released during sex, and allergic reactions such as rash, itching, hives, and swelling of the lips or face.

.
Let’s see here, in return for the possibility of shrinking the prostate, we might lose the ability to have sex, and get breasts. Somehow I’m thinking that getting up a few times a night to pee might not be such a bad idea.
What’s a better idea is using Chinese herbs.
Without side effects, other than the nasty taste of drinking down the foul brew, it is possible to get a good night’s without numerous trips to the bathroom, and still have the capacity to have sex!
In fact, Chinese herbal medicine offers natural methods to treat a wide variety of chronic health problems, and without the annoying side-effects associated with pharmaceutical products.
.
Ask an experienced herbalist for more information. Should you have trouble finding one of those, come on down to Yong Kang clinic, where we have several well trained and experienced herbalists that would be delighted to answer your questions.

This is a beautiful web site. I absolutely love the pictures. I would love to see the Yong Kang clinic and see some of the natural treatments and age old wisdom and remedies in use there.
I was searching for a natural hives treatment and was looking at some of these pages for natural hives cures. I don’t want a prescription and want to learn about alternate methods. Is homeopathy practiced at all with Chinese medicine?
I love the title with this one, when the cure is worse than the disease. How do we bring back balance into the western medical establishment?
Thanks for sharing the wisdom…..
Thanks for your comments about the site.
Chinese medicine has some excellent methods for naturally treating hives and other skin problems as well.
We don’t practice homeopathy, that is a completely different discipline.
If you are in Seattle, do stop by the clinic and see what we have to offer!
