Some things I love about China

You can cross the street anywhere.

.
Baozi (steamed buns) cost just under $0.02 from the hole in the wall restaurants with the giant steam filled bamboo baskets.
A nice hour long foot massage, in a place that is NOT smoky is about US$5. It includes a nice soak in hot water first, and shoulder massage.
Cantonese style dimsum (yes, that is redundant) restaurants that are lit bright as a supernova, noisier, than a battle of the steel drum bands, packed way too tight with customers and scurrying waitstaff. And have blaring TV’s strategically placed so you can watch 3 screens at once from anywhere in the joint.
That you can just ignore the hawkers of “watches, bags, and DVD’s”, be completely rude and no one cares.
Did I mention you can cross the street anywhere?

Prices on books in Chinese!
That curious feeling that I’ve occasionally slipped into a different century.
Colorful song birds in bamboo splinter cages.
You can get your shoes fixed on almost any street corner.

CHINGLISH!

People running around in their pajamas

That I speak enough Chinese to generally communicate, but that what is really going on under the surface of many interactions , I am often not quite sure.
There is something vitilizing about not being able to take anything for granted.
You have stay sharp, and fiercely in the moment.
