Resolutions or wishes?
Jan 1st, 2007 by Michael Max
I’ve had two Asian friends who live Asia, and one who lives in America, ask me …
What is your new year’s wish?
They did not say resolution.
They said 希望.
Wish.
At first I tried to correct to them,
then realized it was me that needed correction.
It is not about instant transformation.
It’s about being mindful of your choices.
What is it that you intend for the year?
What do you want to have happen in your life?
What are you moving toward?
It is not about setting the bar at a certain height and giving yourself one chance to clear it.
It is not an all or nothing proposition.
It is your guiding star.
The road you choose to walk down.
The intention you have becomes a compass.
If we only have one chance at making a major shift in our lives. It is bound to fail.
Life does not work that way.
So make a wish, turn it into a touchstone, and slowly slowly walk toward it.
