Big is huge
Jun 14th, 2007 by Michael Max
These days, you have to be careful about what you ask for.
I asked for a medium sized cup of coffee. I is not a good idea to do this without looking at just how big is a medium sized cup. What I got was the tower of coffee. It is quite possible that I just don’t go out often enough for coffee these days. Medium is now large. And if you want a big cup? Big is huge!
Now, don’t get me wrong here. I like more of what I like. But, this tower of coffee threatened to burst my kidneys. We all laugh about everything being “supersized”, but I am not sure we realize that this skews our perception of what is good or expected. Like an addict, we increasingly need more, just to be normal.
In my line of business, there is no big large huge. More is not necessarily gooder.
Balance
Enough
Harmonized
Tuned and smooth
Chinese medicine for the most part works slow and smooth. Balance and harmonize, coax the body into naturally doing what it already does best, take care of itself. Find balance in world that is in constant motion and change.
Which is not to say one might not walk out without the back-pain they walked in with, or that a troublesome headache perhaps will be mislaid. Many people experience rapid and lasting relief from acupuncture. But, more than symptomatic relief, acupuncture has a way subtly changing one at deep levels. In fact, unlike my recent trip to the coffee shop, more and more is not required. In fact, less at times is more. Way more!
